Sea to Sky Intergroup Update – July

Happy Canada Day!  Here is an update from your Sea to Sky Intergroup for July –

Check out the  July Newsletter for loads of great resources including upcoming retreats and events, a handout on The First 12 Days of OA and some inspiration on Step Three in Action. Feel free to print extra copies for your meeting or share by e-mail. Submissions for the June newsletter can be sent to seatoskynews@gmail.com.

The July Meeting Directory is now available to help you find meetings throughout the month. There is a new meeting in South Burnaby on Tuesdays at 7:30 PM at the Burnaby Fellowship Centre, 7638 6th Street, Burnaby (off Kingsway at 14th Avenue). It’s a Big Book / Speaker focus. For more info, contact Zayna at 778-847-5862. All welcome!

Remember, if you can’t make it out to a meeting, there are loads of virtual meetings (telephone and on-line) and podcasts full of experience, strength & hope.  If you have changes/edits to the meeting directory, send an e-mail to seatoskymeetingdirectory@gmail.com

Did you know that Canada is one of the most multi-cultural societies in the world? OA literature and recovery materials have been formally translated by OA members into thirty languages, all adding to the growth of OA unity worldwide. OA has posted charts that summarize every licensed translation at oa.org/documents (under “Translations”) —Translated Literature and Translated OA Recovery Materials. Check the charts to see if your translations are listed, and if you see any- thing missing, contact the World Service Office.

A new website for all things virtual was recently launched by the Virtual Services Con- ference Committee. The website, oavirtualservices.org, aims to be an education resource for OA members who maintain virtual meetings. In response to the ever-increasing popularity of virtual meetings and their growing need for service body support, the VSCC plans to offer an array of website-based resources including:

  • how-to guidelines
  • a forum to discuss issues that impact
  • virtual meetings directly
  • a calendar of virtual OA events
  • “OA Virtual News,” a new quarterly newsletter for participants in virtual meetings.

The website promises to become a center for synergy and cooperation among virtual meetings as well as a useful reference for our Fellowship.

Do you have 3-4 hours a month? Intergroup open service positions include: public information coordinator, marathons/retreats coordinator and 12 Step within coordinator.  All OA members are welcome at Intergroup meetings. Join us! Check out the position descriptions and feel free to attend the next Intergroup Meeting on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 10 am (1630 Edinburgh Street in New Westminster). All are welcome.
